On Monday 2 September over 150 students from 19 HICES schools came together for the 2024 G&T Camp.
Students came from as far as Dubbo in the west, Armidale in the north, Jindabyne in the south and just about everywhere in between.
The camp is jam packed with activities to test the minds of our students. From Archaeology, Art, Engineering, Living in Space, Robotics, Stock Market Simulation and Sustainability to name just a few of the 19 courses on offer, there are classes designed to interest and challenge all the students attending. On top of the academic subjects there was a disco, gorge swing and high ropes challenge along with a guest presenter talking all things “biodiversity and pollinators”.
It was wonderful to see the students making new friends and having lots of good times together. It is safe to say that the staff also enjoyed the time they were able to spend meeting new colleagues and sharing their experience and expertise.
At HICES our goal is to provide an exciting range of unique opportunities and collaborative experiences for our students that simply would not be possible within the context of one school alone. The G&T Camp is a wonderful example of this.

123 students and 21 teachers from 18 schools came together for this year’s G & T Camp and what a week they all had!
Located in pristine Aussie bush, our finest minds participated in amazing workshops while soaking up the fresh air and nature around them. They created solutions to some of the world’s biggest environmental challenges, planned buildings using geomatric design principles, built a survival plan after a lunar crash landing, made a fortune on the stockmarket, explored robotics and chemistry, wrote bestselling novels, created artistic masterpieces capturing the beauty of nature, dug deep into fascinating historical legends, engineered designs for the Artemis space program, developed a racetrack with Ozbots, produced their own Oscar worth films, developed a big company marketing facelift … and that’s just the beginning.
Friendships were forged, minds were expanded, gorges were swung across, the dance floor was hopping, the challenges came in all shapes and sizes and the outcomes were outstanding for all.
After a Covid induced 2 year pause, were so thrilled to welcome students back to G & T Camp in 2022. This is a much loved event on the HICES calendar each year.
In August 2022, 132 students and 21 teachers from 19 HICES Schools came together for 5 days of mind boggling workshops, wild activities, making great new friends and having lots of good times together.
Workshops included Robotics, Entrepreneurship, Google Doodles, Cryptology, Visual Arts, Coding Club, Stop Motion Animation, Building an Escape Room, Dramatic Articulation, Architectural Geometry, Living in Space … and LOTS more!
