COMBINED HICES SCHOOLS
“A world class event and an outstanding success”
On Sunday 11 August, over 350 Year 5-8 and Jazz Academy music students and staff from 32 HICES Schools came together for 4 days of music making and fun at The Tops in Stanwell Tops, culminating in the Jazz Academy Concert at The Foundry 616 and the Festival Concert at Sydney Town Hall on Wednesday 14 August.
The annual festival gives music students an opportunity to perform repertoire that might not otherwise be available to them through their individual schools. With a range of ensembles such as Concert Band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble, Male Vocal Ensemble, Sting Ensemble and String Orchestra, students were able to share their knowledge and previous experiences with new friends while growing into better musicians.
This year students had the opportunity to work with world renowned Mr Paul Jarman, a composer, lyricist, performer, musical director and sought-after conductor, presenter and adjudicator.
The experiences and friendships gained will hopefully stay with these students for life. We look forward to the next Festival which will be held for students Years 7-12 and World Music Academy for students in August 2025.
